We want to use this part of the website to highlight some major things happening in various youth ministries and in the lives of young people around the World. Each month we will have an IN THE SPOTLIGHT youth ministry/organization who are really trying to go against the grain of this culture and do what God wants them to do.
For the first month of this New Year we want to highlight a youth organisation who are motivating youth to help others.
In our day to day lives we can often hear or see actions of people who are using the motto ‘I’m taking care of number one..’ meaning their concern is about looking after themselves. I think that this statement totally goes against what God tells us in the Bible.
In Matthew 22 from verse 34 Jesus summarizes the entirety of God's law in two simple commands: love God, and love your neighbor. Love for our neighbor should flow naturally out of our love for God.
In Luke 10 Jesus was talking to a Lawyer about this very same issue. The lawyer then asked Jesus ‘ ..But who is my neighbour….’ Jesus proceeded to tell him the parable of the Good Samaritan. The message of the story being our neighbour is anyone who needs help. In 2010 let us follow Jesus example, Learn to put the needs of others before our own and not get caught up with the selfish culture that is in our World today. This year why don’t you get involved… don’t conform to this culture which places you at the centre of everything.. instead conform to God’s Word which places helping and serving others at the forefront…..
Open doors YOUTH is all about helping the church to be the church in the most hostile places. Christians all over the world are being persecuted and imprisoned because they dare to believe in Jesus Christ. Watch their video, visit their website and see how you could get involved… We will be featureing them in the first issue of this column very soon.
Tell us who we should feature?
If you or your youth group are involved in making a difference in your generation, community or even church then we want to hear about it. You maybe a large organization or a cell group whatever you’re doing let us know. Send in any pictures, a brief bio and we will highlight your efforts for the glory of God.
We would also like these posts to be inspiring and to encourage youths and teenagers across the country to be radical in their faith wherever they are.
Maybe you’re a youth leader who wants to share a story about your youth group and your fight to grow and reach the teens in your community.
Whatever it is, simply post your video on Youtube.com, then join our community and post your video on your profile page. Then, start watching this page to see if we put your video/post on the website for everyone to see.
